George Romar - Secretary

George attended Rice University where he was a student in the School of Humanities and majored in Asian Studies. During his undergraduate studies, George served as a member of Rice’s Student Ambassador corps and gave tours and college presentations to over 2,500 young student visitors. He completed training and certification as an emergency medical technician in 2010. During his field rotations, he assisted paramedics in providing emergency medical care at a basic life support level and inter-facility transports for dozens of patients. In 2011, George won the Chao Center for Asian Studies’ Advanced Undergraduate Research Award and used the proceeds to study abroad at Peking University in Beijing, China. In the summer of 2012, he completed a public policy research internship in which he focused on the uncertainty regarding federal science research funding.

Upon graduating in 2013, George was hired as a Research Associate in Science and Technology Policy at the Baker Institute for Public Policy. Much of his time was invested in managing the Civic Scientist Outreach program. He coordinated science outreach presentations for over 1,500 students.

George now serves as the secretary for Harvard Medical School’s chapter of the Student National Medical Association. He is responsible for maintenance of records, managing the chapter’s electronic mail, and planning social events for SNMA members and the wider HMS student body. For fun, George enjoys eating good food, making good food, watching movies/plays/performances, and hanging out with cool people.
