David Osayande - Pipeline Coordinator

David Osayande is a current first year medical student in the New Pathway Program. His family is Nigerian, but he was born in Germany and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He attended New York University as a HEOP Scholar and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry in 2013. During his time at NYU, he taught Organic Chemistry and conducted research involving achiral optical activity. He also spent some time in Maun, Botswana aiding child victims of physical/sexual abuse and HIV/AIDS infection. After graduation, David spent a year teaching with NYU STEP – a pre-college enrichment program that provides academic support to disadvantaged minority students. His interest in urban violence – particularly, youth violence prevention – makes it likely that he will pursue an MPH during his time at Harvard. He is also interested in health disparities, global health (particularly in Africa), and education. At HMS, he serves as one of the pipeline chairs for SNMA and a student mentor for HPREP (Health Professions Recruitment & Exposure Program). Beyond academia, David enjoys basketball, video games, and anime.
