Resonance: HMS's Annual Poetry Slam & Open Mic

September 4, 2020
Resonance

Resonance, the first Zoom edition of HMS's annual poetry slam and open mic night.

This special event was sponsored by the Office of Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership (DICP) and hosted by M1 students Tola Ibikunle and Nereida Ramirez.

The evening consisted of performances from HMS/HSDM students, residents, graduate students, high schoolers, and other members of the community. Through poetry, spoken word, and song, they shared stories of grief and triumph. Moreover, we heard diverse perspectives on the significance of being a provider, a student, and a citizen during this era of COVID, police violence, and political instability.

This was a hopeful, powerful, and energizing event, and it showed that even in a virtual format, our voices can resonate.

Special thanks to Susan Legere, Special Project Manager, and Joan Y. Reede, Dean of DICP, for their support in planning this event.
